In the course of our work we sometimes come across resources that we think are exceptionally useful. As we do, we will post them on this page so that you can check them out as well. If you have any resources that you think we should add to the list, please let us know by sending an e-mail to duffy@mainstreetmanagement.com.

BOOKS
First, Break All the Rules by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman, Simon & Schuster, 1999

This is the best book we have seen on how managers make a difference in your business. Based on 25 years of Gallup research covering over 1,000,000 employees, 2,500 business units and 24 companies, Buckingham and Coffman show how great managers defy conventional wisdom and break all the rules to get great performance from their staff.

The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Business Still Don't Work and What You Can Do About Yours by Michael E. Gerber, HarperCollins Canada, Limited, 1995

Michael Gerber explains how small business owners get trapped into a relentless cycle of working for their business and how, by stepping back and thinking about what they want from their business they can get it to work for them. We used Mr. Gerber's book to help us decide how to set up and run Main Street Management.

Tell us about your favourite books and how they have helped you improve your business. Send and e-mail to duffy@mainstreetmanagement.com.
